Position Overview
The Tool Room Specialist is essential to maintaining the precision and performance of tooling used in high-speed can manufacturing. This role focuses on machining, repairing, and optimizing tooling, dies, and fixtures to ensure consistent production quality and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities
Tooling & Machining
- Perform advanced machining and tool room operations using a variety of materials and techniques
- Repair, modify, and fabricate tooling components, including dies and replacement parts
- Operate manual and CNC equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders
- Support tooling refurbishment and precision part production
Precision & Quality Control
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure exact tolerances
- Inspect finished components to verify quality and compliance with specifications
- Maintain tooling inventories and prepare tool sets for production use
Technical Support & Problem Solving
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to plan machining processes
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve tooling and equipment issues
- Analyze root causes of tooling failures and implement corrective solutions
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in equipment rebuilds and tooling upgrades
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, extend tool life, and reduce downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of machining ferrous, non-ferrous, and composite materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
- Experience with CNC programming, OD/ID grinding, and jig grinding
- Solid understanding of tooling repair, fabrication, and rebuild processes

- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communicator and team collaborator
- Flexible and able to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Technical or vocational training in Tool & Die, Machining, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (high-speed production preferred)
- Proven experience operating machine shop equipment and precision measuring tools
